12/9/2008 Dunlop racers win top honors at 2008 Mini O’s Winter Olympics

Buffalo, NY: At the final amateur national event on the 2008 amateur racing calendar, the Mini O’s Winter Olympics competition held in Gainesville, Florida on November 24-29, Team Dunlop and Dunlop competitors continued their season-long domination, winning a combined total of 57 titles. Over the six days of competition Dunlop racers won 29 Supercross and 28 Motocross titles, 18 Dunlop racers were crowned Olympiad Champions and 4 riders were awarded prestigious Olympiad awards.

Dunlop competitor Les Smith was awarded the Dunlop Silver Tire Award for scoring the highest Olympiad points, and Jordan Smith won the Fox Bronze Boot Award for top scoring in the youth divisions. The Ironman Award is given to the rider who demonstrates exceptional strength on and off the track and Dunlop pilot Malcolm Stewart took honors. Andy Pizzitola rounded out the awards, winning the Platinum Pipe Award for being the overall top scorer from all divisions in both Supercross and Motocross.

24 overall Olympiad Champion crowns were awarded and Dunlop racers made up three quarters of those champions. Andy Pizzitola and Jason Anderson successfully received two crowns and fellow Dunlop competitors Austin Politelli, Barry Carsten, Brandon Mays, Chase Sexton, Cody Robbins, Earl May, Jessica Patterson, Jordan Smith, Justin Barcia, Kyle Regal, Les Smith, Thom Covington, Zach Bell were crowned overall champions.

Team Dunlop member Matt Bisceglia successfully dominated the SX 85 (12-13) Modified class winning his first title for 2008 and continued his stance on the podium finishing second in the MX 85 (12-13) Modified class, and third in both Super Mini (12-16) and 85 (12-13) Stock classes.

Team Dunlop members who also finished on the podium were; Connor Pearson finishing third in SX 85 (9-11) Modified and MX 85 (9-11) Stock, Justin Bogle placed third in MX Youth (12-16) Stock, Jordan Bailey took second in SX 51 (7-8) Stock. Eli Tomac continued showcasing his talents placing second in both MX 250 B Stock and SX 250 B Modified classes, and third in MX Schoolboy (14-16) and SX Schoolboy (14-16) events. Joey Savatgy finished just shy of the top step in both MX Youth (12-16) Stock and Youth (12-16) Modified taking second, and placed third in MX Youth (12-16) Stock and Youth (12-16) Modified. Max Anstie placed second in SX Youth (12-16) Stock and 250 B Stock classes, and Jarek Balkovic went on to take second in the SX 85 (9-11) Modified class.
