Jason immediately took to speed, entering his first race at the age of four. He quickly found a home atop the podium in flat track racing. Jason’s championship flat track career is successful, but the truly amazing show was put on when Jason tried Grand Prix motorcycle road racing for the first time at the age of 14.
One year later, and much sooner than is traditionally accomplished, Jason was elevated to expert status. Armed with this, Jason won more
than half of the races he entered in 1999 and finished on the podium in more than 80% of the races. He received licensing that permitted
him to run in the United Kingdom and Czech Republic, both with strong finishes. As of this publication, Jason still holds the world record as
the youngest American competitor to ever race in an FIM-sanctioned 125 World Grand Prix race.
Following his experience in Europe, Jason arrived on the AMA scene in 2002 under the tutelage of former World Champion Freddie Spencer and personal coach Jeff Haney. Following a runner-up finish in the 250 Grand Prix class and a limited AMA Superbike season, Jason was signed to Yamaha Factory Racing where he is now the team veteran, returning for his sixth season. His career highlights include multiple wins in both AMA Supersport, Superstock and Formula Xtreme classes in the past four seasons. His career best season finish was second in the 2005 Superstock Championship which also saw him finish third in Supersport. He followed those results with two third place series finishes in Superstock and Formula Xtreme in 2006 along with a third place finish in his first ever Daytona 200.
Jason returned fulltime to the premier AMA Superbike class in 2007 aboard the YZF-R1. He and the team worked well together in a learning year in which he just missed the podium with a season-best fourth place finish at the Sonoma, California, round. Armed with the lessons learned last season and the latest World Superbike specification R1, look for 2008 to be Jason’s best season yet.
